What is Vibration Exercise?

Vibration Exercise is a method of training on a machine that is vibrating. Users simply position themselves on the vibrating platform while the plate on the base of the unit sends vibrations to the muscles in the body

Vibration Training Vibration training is similar to traditional weights training. As a general guideline, users should:

  1. Exercise between 2 and 3 times per week
  2. Allow at least one days rest between exercising
  3. Wear rubber soled shoes to ensure vibrations are transferred correctly to the body
  4. To achieve weight loss, combine the exercise with an appropriate diet and some cardio-vascular exercise

FAQ

How does vibration training work?

The vibrations in the plate cause a reflexive contraction of the muscle (similar to when doctor taps underneath your kneecap and your leg lifts). These contractions train your brain to better use your muscles (known as neurological adaptation).

My ankles are red and itchy after exercising. Is this normal?

Yes. This is a common skin reaction to the vibration. Walking around will eliminate the sensation.

I can feel the vibrations in my head and my ears start ringing when I stand on it. Is this normal?

Check that your knees and neck are bent and your weight is on the front of your feet. If you stand too upright, the vibration will travel up your body rather than working on your leg muscles.

I want to get really fast results. Shouldn't I try and put the speed to its maximum setting?

No. The reason we recommend the speed setting between S1- S5 is that research has shown that vibrations at these speeds deliver the optimal results. Higher speeds are unlikely to delivery any improvement and may in fact slow progress.

What about cellulite? I've heard it reduces cellulite. There has been one study at a skin clinic in Europe that indicates that vibration training may reduce the appearance of cellulite. More research is currently being undertaken to confirm this is true.

If I stop training how long will the benefits last?

As with resistance training, the results will start to recede if training is stopped. How quickly this happens depends on the individual.

Is vibration training a complete workout?

Vibration training can meet all the goals of a resistance training programme plus offer the benefits discussed earlier. However, it is not a substitute for cardio vascular exercise or an appropriate diet.

Age & Children

The minimum age for use is 15 years old. The Vibe Trainer is not a toy and children should not be allowed to come into contact with the platform when vibrating. The vibrating platform could cause serious injury or death if a child comes into contact with the plate.

User Range

The exerciser is made for home use only and tested up to a maximum body weight of 100kg.

Side Effects

It is quite common for users to experience itchiness and redness of the skin after exercising on the Vibe Trainer. This is a well known reaction of the skin to mechanical stimulation (known as dermographism) and can be fixed rapidly by walking around. No other significant side effects have been noted from extensive research studies.
